 Tuesday September 3rd

Today actually has the feeling of ending ... the last day of our holiday, sigh.

And yet we woke up in this glorious woodland retreat!  All was quiet as we ventured towards the main building/restaurant.  No children in sight anywhere!! I’m sure they were sleeping just a bit later to get ready for today’s fun. Honestly, I think they are Italian and spoke little if no English, so maybe their school year is different from ours.

Breakfast was included in our night’s stay. We expected the usual fare we had at previous hotels, but it was in fact more like the Sunday brunch you can get at some of our nicer restaurants, and it looked out over the lake! We even had to sign a bill for our room that was $32 and then underneath, zeroed out. Not sure why they did that except there was a spot for a tip…

Back to the room, we packed up for the last time. We were on the second floor with the stairway outside. So if you remember how much “stuff” we took, leaving involved several trips (for both of us) up and down those long darn stairs.

The road through the woods to get to the Resort was quite windy and had more than a few turns. On leaving we chose not to use the GPS and discovered the “other” side of the lake before we remembered to turn it on.

We had planned a visit to Emily in Barrie on our way home, but sadly, we didn’t catch her.  It would have been the perfect end to our holiday, to chat for a bit and give her a hug in person. But we know she has a lot going on in her life right now. We will try again, hopefully soon.

We bypassed Toronto by going through Mono Mills and Guelph, so although that way is slightly longer, we were in no shape to sit in Toronto's traffic.

Finally home on Donley St!! It was a great trip.  We got to spend some precious time with my family in Winnipeg, We personally “saw” Wabasha and found the houses where “Grumpy Old Men” was filmed, and we met so many wonderful people (well mostly, lol) in both US and Canada.

Max was so happy to see us! It was obvious that our good friend Dawn took excellent care of our little buddy and hopefully had some quiet time to herself too.

Tired, but happy to be back in our little home.

Until our next travels, bye for now!
